There is a battle to fight, an adventure to live and beauty to capture – to be counted in posterity. Ours should be like the journey of the Salmon, to be the 1 in every 1000 to complete the full journey. Born high upstream in freshwater rivers, the Salmon journey into the salty seas. After conquering life and death itself, they return by swimming upstream to their place of origin, to spawn a new generation and to die.
In agony and mourning for my country, then making plans to emigrate, barely holding onto my sanity. I got consumed, healed and comforted by a vision for my contribution to the life and the destiny of our country – (1 Kings 18:44)
This was followed by a time of solitude, reflection, purification and study. Prepared to challenge and to deal with rejection in spirit, body and in relationships. I had to deal with my own fear, guilt and shame. I had to understand my vulnerabilities and my journey of initiation from boy, cowboy/ranger; warrior, lover, king, to sage. To set my face like a flint, to motorize the mission, to be humble, to be bold, to serve, to be consumed in joy like a Salmon fish, to spawn a new generation and to die.
To allow the water from the Throne to fill us to the brink that we have an unquenching joy in attempting the impossible. Freshwater for all and a stream of Throne Water that carries our calling into the world.
We walk to the sound of a still distant drum, choose to live from a consuming vision still un-real, to bring into reality a world not yet imagined. One generation at a time, one discussion at a time, one person at a time, one victory at a time. Because excellence is the next five minutes and every time we choose the engage it strengthens the warrior in us. That is all that is needed.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming. Wow! What a ride.
